hey, I’m Emily
When I moved to San Francisco, I was working in a coffee shop feeling confused about my future and even more confused about San Francisco’s weather patterns (the summers being cold and grey if you’re not familiar). A heated yoga studio opened up nearby and I thought going to class would be the perfect opportunity to warm myself up. Little did I know that practicing there would change the trajectory of my life. In 2019 I signed up for teacher training, ditched the espresso and never looked back. I’ve since taught thousands of yoga classes in modalities that span from Sculpt, Vinyasa, and Yin.
I fell into the depths of breathwork on a quiet coast in Oaxaca. I was familiar with the effects down regulative breathing techniques, but had never felt the power of an active practice like I did then. Active breathwork unlocked a method of healing in me I didn’t know was possible. It’s a practice I return to often. It is an honor and privilege to get to share it with you.
I’ve never been a perfectionist and truthfully I don’t ever care to be one. Yoga for me has never been about perfecting the shapes either. It’s been a way for me to move and process and create and connect. My mat is a place where I really feel like myself. I can lock in and be present and tune everything else out.
My classes are for everyone and anyone who want to be there. Whether you are working through joy, fear, sadness, grief, anger, excitement, moving towards perfecting your poses, or just trying to consciously feel your breath and body, you are always welcome. Classes are well structured with opportunities for you to find what feels good in your own body
When I’m not practicing I’m reading, day dreaming, crafting, exploring, spending time with my dogs, or curating vintage goods for my shop Bits & Bobs. I’m so glad you’re here and I can’t wait to move, and breathe, and grow with you.
